At SCOPE, we believe that conservation is only possible through the dedication and collaboration of passionate people. Our team brings together scientists, conservationists, community leaders, and volunteers who share one vision: a future where Bangladesh’s species and ecosystems thrive.
From field researchers tracking endangered birds in coastal wetlands, to educators raising awareness in local communities, to technical experts designing data-driven conservation strategies—every member of our team plays a vital role in protecting nature.
Together, we combine local knowledge, global expertise, and unwavering commitment to make a lasting impact for wildlife and people alike.

Sayam U. Chowdhury is a conservation scientist with a keen interest in the ecology and conservation of threatened species in Asia, particularly in addressing the impacts of ecological change on biodiversity in densely populated countries such as Bangladesh. Over the past 15 years, he has been actively involved in research, conservation and the behavioural ecology of globally threatened species in Asia. His work primarily centres on migratory shorebirds of the East Asian–Australasian Flyway, including the development of tools for managing coastal habitats, identifying mitigation measures in response to climate change and appointed as Coordinator of the Spoon-billed Sandpiper Task Force. He received his PhD in 2025 from the Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge, where his doctoral research integrated remote sensing, shorebird population surveys, high-resolution shorebird tracking, citizen-science bird count data and site prioritisation procedures to address key knowledge gaps in shorebird habitat use, population estimation and site prioritisation across tropical Asia, under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Balmford and Prof. Rhys Green. Dr. Chowdhury is also a co-founder of the Species Conservation and Protection of Ecosystems (SCOPE) Foundation.
